Chandrayaan-3: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S Somnath has attributed the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission to all the scientists who persevered for its success despite pain and suffering.
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S Somnath has attributed the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission to all the scientists who persevered for its success despite pain and suffering. He expressed confidence that the space agency will launch a similar spacecraft on Mars in the coming years.
He also acknowledged the contribution of a generation of scientists of the country’s space agency to the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and said that it is a gradual progress and definitely a big one.

Somnath said that the journey to the moon is difficult and with the advancement of technology it is difficult for any country to achieve a soft landing today. He said that India has achieved this in only two missions. Chandrayaan-2, the first mission aimed at soft landing on the Moon, was a minor miss, while the Chandrayaan-3 mission was executed perfectly.
The objective of Chandrayaan-1 was only to place an unmanned spacecraft in an orbit around the Moon. The ISRO chief said, ‘It (the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission) gives confidence to shape missions not only to go to the Moon but also to go to Mars.’
He said that the Chandrayaan-3 mission was difficult to execute. We have gone through a lot of pain and suffering. Somnath said that the chief scientist of Chandrayaan-2 was also part of the Chandrayaan-3 team. He said, ‘Most of the people who were with Chandrayaan-2 are with us to help us in Chandrayaan-3.’

He said the technology that we have in Chandrayaan-3 is not less than any other technology going to the moon. We have the world’s best sensors and best-in-class (instruments) in Chandrayaan-3. It was a fully made-in-India mission using world-class components, he said.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory message to the ISRO team, he said, ‘The Hon’ble Prime Minister called me and congratulated everyone and the family for the wonderful work done by ISRO.’
