The lander sent new pictures of the moon:

Along with this, ISRO released pictures of the moon taken by the ‘Lander Position Detection Camera’ from a height of about 70 km. The space agency has informed that there will be live streaming of the landing operation on August 23 from 5.20 pm IST.

Four moon missions failed in four years:

The whole world is watching this landing of ISRO. This is happening at a time when the Russian Moon Mission Luna-25 failed recently. Three of the four missions sent to the moon between 2019 and 2023 have failed.

Among them, Israel’s Beresheet, Japan’s Hakuto-R, India’s Chandrayaan-2, and Russia’s Luna-25 failed. Only China’s Chang-5 managed to land successfully on the moon.

With the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, India will join the club of special countries. So far only the US, Soviet Union (East), and China have successfully landed on the moon. India will be the fourth country in the world to do so.
