Tilak Verma has been included in India’s ODI squad for Asia Cup 2023 for the first time. Verma has impressed many with his skills in T20 games against West Indies.
Tilak Verma got a wildcard entry for India’s Asian Cup squad on Monday when national selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar announced the 17-member squad. KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah have been announced to return to the team. But it also includes Verma’s uncapped ODI player.
At a press conference on Monday, Agarkar answered questions and claimed that Verma had shown promising results during his short stint with T20Is. For those who don’t know, the left-handed batsman has played 7 T20Is against the West Indies and Ireland, showing high form against the former. After his election, many former cricketers praised the move. Now Verma has explained his choice saying that he never dreamed of making his ODI debut in the Asian Cup.

The 20-year-old also said that he is confident of doing well in the ODIs. тАЬI am very confident about playing ODI cricket because as you said I have played ODI cricket for a long time, for example, List-A cricket. The left-handed batsman is also part of Mumbai Indians IPL team led by Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
